00:40I'm out here to show you how to upgrade some old toggle switch covers to enhance the outdoor

00:43living space. A new install would basically follow the same

00:46procedure as with any electrical work. Make sure the power is off at the breaker begin

00:52by removing the existing cover and device, compare the wires and connect them to your

00:57decorator switch.

00:58I've chosen the 5122 kit for this location because it includes a single pole switch.

01:03If I was controlling the lights from multiple locations, I'd use three way switch instead if

01:08your electrical box was incorrectly installed too deep,

01:10causing your device to be recessed within the wall cavity.

01:13You'll have to correct this problem. Spacers are available,

01:16but I prefer a device leveling plate like the RACO 999X,

01:19which is a fast simple solution to bring the device flushed to the wall surface.

01:24And now we're ready to mount the cover if installing against an uneven surface such as

01:28brick or stucco. It's recommended to run a quarter inch bead of

01:31non hardening silicone caulk on the cover gasket. Make sure the O rings are installed beneath the

01:36included cover, mounting screws, tighten the cover, mounting screws until snug being sure

01:41not to over tight, turn the power back on and that's it.
