00:00Welcome to the Burnie compression cable pole installation video.
00:03In this video, we will show you the proper installation with the 12 ton 750 series
00:09installation tool installers can also use the 15 ton 46 series tools as well.
00:14See SOMI for more details. Before proceeding,
00:18it is very important to comply with all the safety precautions described in the safety
00:22operation manual, an instruction that is individually packaged with each compression
00:26cable pole. This video will guide you through the steps on
00:29how to properly crimp your compression cable pull.
00:32It is important to note that the number of crimps required for each compression cable pull
00:36is different. Each compression cable pull barrel is marked
00:39with the correct number of cramps and you can consult the SOMI for proper number of crims for
00:44the compression cable pull barrel. You are installing step one for all compression
00:50cable pulling heads, select the appropriate compression cable pull for the conductor being
00:55crimped and verify the conductor and compression cable pull markings are the same.
00:59The SOMI also indicates the conductor it accommodates for each compression cable pull
01:05step two for all compression cable pulling heads measure appropriate strip length line up
01:11the compression barrel to the conductor mark the cable at the appropriate strip length for
01:16easy strip length verification installers can use the do not crimpy online to measure strip
01:22length or review the SOMI which identifies the minimum strip length required.
01:27It is important that conductor is stripped to the appropriate length to ensure the wire is
01:31fully inserted into the barrel.
01:33As a warning, each crimp needs to have full contact with the conductor inside the barrel to
01:39ensure proper grip to the wire failure to properly strip the wire may result in a failure.
01:44Step three, for all compression cable, pulling heads strip the cable to the needed length with
01:50a wire stripper or another appropriate wire stripping device strip the insulation carefully
01:55to avoid nicking or cutting the wire strands strip the insulation to the proper length.
02:00So the conductor can be fully inserted into the compression cable pull head as a warning,
02:05damaging wire strands during the stripping process can reduce the conductor's overall
02:10diameter, which can result in less wire strands being compacted.
02:14This can cause the wire to slip from the barrel as the mechanical grip from the compression has
02:18been compromised. Step four, select the appropriate installation
02:23tooling. This is identified in the Somi step five,
02:27fully insert the conductor into the compression cable pulling head.
02:34Step six, apply the proper number of crimps to the barrel.
02:39Each barrel may require a different number of crimps.
02:42So be sure to review the barrel markings and or the soy for proper number of cramps,
02:47no rotational crimps required when using U dyes. Be sure.
02:50Each crimp is applied with a full crump cycle to be sure proper installation as a warning,
02:56full crim cycles, installing a proper number of cramps is critical to ensure the grip on the
03:01conductor is not compromised, resulting in a failure for the YCP 28 barrels.
03:07Two crims are required place the YCP 28 barrel in the upper crimp dye use the crimp band
03:13closest to the lanyard as the guide for the first crimp
03:24use the second crimp band closest to the wire as the guide for the second cramp
03:32step seven prior to use, inspect each compression pulling grip to ensure that the
03:38proper number of cramps have been applied and that there are no visual damages to the
03:42compression pulling grips or conductor after the inspection is complete.
03:46And the compression cable pull heads have been approved.
03:49The compression pulling heads will be ready for use.
