00:00This video demonstrates the termination process for SC and LC Proclick fiber optic connectors,
00:07Hubble Proclick connectors are factory terminated with a mechanical spliced feature.
00:11No field polishing is required making this a labor saving product.
00:15This procedure requires a fiber strip tool, a precision cleave tool.
00:20A VFL fiber cleaning solvent, lint, free wipes and a fiber disposal container.
00:26Precision fiber tools must be clean and free of contamination.
00:30The fiber strip tool removes all coatings down to the glass fiber,
00:34use a precision strip tool to save labor for best results use a precision cleave tool to
00:40control fiber cleave angle. All Proclick connectors use a 10 millimeter
00:44cleave length. A visual fault locator is used to check
00:47termination quality. This step is optional for the skilled installer
00:52for cleaning. Optical fibers use lint free wipes and high
00:55grade cleaning solvent.
00:57Use an approved container for collecting loose fibers.
01:01Now let's get started with terminating a Proclick sc connector slide the boot onto the
01:06fiber strand, squeeze the connector firmly to seat the actuator clip.
01:12This opens the internal fiber clamp, then flip the safety latch to unlock the clip strip about
01:191.5 inches in small segments hold the strip tool firmly and use a steady motion
01:30gently bend the fiber back and forth to check for Nick.
01:33A nicked fiber will break easily and now is the time to check clean the fiber with a solvent
01:39wipe to remove residue, then use a dry wipe to finish cleaning
01:47place the fiber into the cleave tool and align with the 10 millimeter mark.
01:51Close the clamps and actuate the cleave tool.
02:00Open the clamps and remove the cleaved fiber.
02:03Do not touch or wipe the Cleve fiber collect loose fibers from the Cleve tool.
02:08After each termination, insert the cleaved fiber until it bottoms inside the connector.
02:13Hold the fiber gently about two inches away with a slight bow in the fiber.
02:18Be careful. Too much force can break the fiber,
02:22holding a steady force on the fiber, squeeze and remove the actuator clip.
02:26The fiber is now clamped in place, slide the boot onto the connector to finish the
02:31termination. Terminating the Proclick LC connector uses the
02:36exact same procedure. Termination quality is verified with a VFL
02:41insert the connector and view the splice slots for light.
02:44A good splice shows little or no visual light. As shown here.
02:49A bad splice will illuminate the slots significantly with good transmission through
02:54the fiber. This is a successful termination contact your
