00:08You can easily replace an existing light fixture with a ceiling fan or heavier light
00:12fixture. Here's another innovation from Hubble Rao,
00:15a retrofit kit that lets you install a ceiling fan up to 70 pounds or a light fixture up to 80
00:21pounds all without making trips back and forth to the attic.
00:25Let's get started. Here's the first and most important step.
00:29Turn off the power of the circuit breaker or fuse box,
00:32keep the power turned off during the entire installation.
00:35Now using a stud finder, locate the center of the ceiling joists
00:42place the wire tray in between the joists find the knockout in the tray that aligns with your
00:47existing ceiling box opening to mount the tray, begin by
00:54positioning it over the ceiling box opening and between the joists mark the location of the
00:58four holes where the tray will be fastened to the joist pre drill four holes into the joists
01:04using a 18 inch drill bit, remove that knock out and pass the wires from the box through it.
01:10If the existing wires aren't long enough, add a pig tail and screw the tray into place,
01:19pull the wires. And if needed.
01:21Slide them through the hook provided on the tray.
01:24Secure the wire cover over the tray by sliding the key holes over the screws,
01:29tighten the screws, pull wires through the wire tray to install the medallion
01:35identify the two holes in the medallion and align them with the two holes on the wire cover.
01:41The magnets will hold the medallion in place while you install the ceiling fan or fix your
01:45bracket, pull the wires through the medallion.
01:50Now, you can install the fan or light fixture as you normally would following the
01:54manufacturer's installation instructions.
01:57The ceiling fan retro kit is available in two sizes 298 wh 16 for 16 inch joist
02:03width and 298 wh 24 for 24 inch joist width.
02:08And of course, the Hubble Rao ceiling fan retro kit meets all 2020 national electric code nec
02:15requirements for mounting ceiling fans so you stay safe and secure.
