00:09The ML Series Weatherproof Covers features our revolutionary patented design expanding
00:13from one inch to 3.5 inches for continuous use with a cord plugged in. The cover maintains a
00:18sleek low profile when not in use. The cover flips open for occasional use or
00:23expands out for continuous use. The original ML450 the new extra duty ML500 are
00:30available in three color option, gray white bronze.
00:34There are also two new two gang models, the ML2450 and the ML2500.
00:41The ML500 and ML2500 both meet the latest 2014 NEC requirement for extra duty
00:47while in-use covers in what locations. Each cover includes mounting screws,
00:51attached gasket, instructions and adapter blades for mounting to various devices.
00:56All models come preconfigured for a GFCI sized opening. If installing on a different shaped
01:02device like a duplex receptacle, toggle switch, or round receptacle use one of the included
01:08adapters. Simply remove pre installed adapter and snap appropriate adapter into backside of
01:14base. We're going to install the ML500 on a GFCI,
01:18so there's no need to change the adapter.
01:21Of course, as with any electrical work, make sure the power is off at the breaker. Covers
01:27include indentations for drilling holes used in alternate box mounting,
01:33but we are going to mount directly to the electrical device which is preferred because
01:37it's a faster, easier install. Start by backing out the device screws about 3/8 of an inch.
01:43If installing on a rough surface, apply a quarter inch bead of silicone calk between the
01:48base and the wall surface. Align keyholes on base with screws,
01:52then slide the base over the device and fasten. The screws compress gasket by tightening screws
01:58until snug, being careful not to over tighten. The ML450 ML500 can also be
02:05mounted horizontally. However, the cord port must be in the bottom
02:09corner to ensure a weatherproof installation.
02:12The two gang ML2450 the extra duty ML2500 follow the same install procedures.
02:18Although there may be additional screws if installing a second device.
02:22The two gang MLs can only be installed in a vertical configuration.
02:26So cords exit from the bottom for weatherproof use.
02:29Now, a few tips on using the cover flip open by pulling on the bottom latch receptacle is
02:35quickly accessible for immediate use or weatherproof continuous use.
02:40Close the cover and the expandable boot pops out. Direct the cords through the cord port,
02:45close the cover, ensuring the latches snap shut. To help the cover fully expand,
02:50it may be necessary to pull out and slightly down on the face plate,
02:54disengage both tabs on top.
02:58The cover is now ready for continuous use in wet locations as required by the national
03:02electric code.
